Why is a Permit Required for the White Rann?
Because the White Desert at Dhordo lies close to the Indo-Pak international border, the entire region is classified as a sensitive defense zone. The Government of Gujarat and Border Police mandate that every domestic and foreign visitor obtain a written or digital entry pass before proceeding beyond the Bhirandiyara village checkpoint (55 km north of Bhuj).
