Featured Artisan Villages on this Tour
1. Nirona Village (Rogan Art, Copper Bells & Lacquer)
Located 40 km northwest of Bhuj, Nirona is the only village on Earth where the ancient Persian art of Rogan Painting survives. The Khatri family (recipients of Padma Shri awards) creates intricate paintings on silk using castor seed paste and natural pigment applied with a fine iron stylus.
Nirona is also famous for Luhar Copper Bells (tuned musical bells made without welding) and Vadhas Lacquer Wood Turning.
2. Ajrakhpur (16-Step Natural Indigo Block Printing)
Home to master block printers who fled earthquake damage in Dhamadka to establish an eco-village dedicated to authentic Ajrakh printing using pomegranate skins, madder roots, rust iron, and pure indigo.
3. Bhujodi (Vankar Weavers & Hira Laxmi Craft Park)
A vibrant weaver township where hundreds of pit-loom weavers create fine tussar silk, desi sheep wool, and organic Kala cotton shawls, stoles, and blankets.
